Dear friends,

I have decided to discontinue the TiFBiTS newsletter. I've been struggling to write it for the last few weeks, and I'm not willing to continue writing "content" that doesn't feel effective or fun. I started this newsletter because I want to give back to my community--and I do, very much so--but after twelve weeks, I don't feel like it's serving that purpose. The subscription number is low and the open rate is even lower, and while I fully understand that things like this take time to build, the content is also stuff that I'm really just not eager to write about (a key indicator that it probably wasn't the right decision in the first place, but I was taking an action based on what I thought others wanted vs what I'm most passionate about and fits into my workflow and time commitment--there are lessons here!!). I used to be a HUGE tech geek, but as technology becomes easier to access and far more powerful with the advancement of AI, my tendency is to turn inward even more to what makes the human aspect of creating and life in general so freaking special. I'm all about the personal, human, experience-based approach to art making and filmmaking and dog training and backpacking and van life (and so on...), and there's definitely a specific--but seemingly much smaller--audience for that. It seems more reasonable, then, to keep my writing for that small but dedicated audience in one primary virtual location. From now on, that one primary location will be Patreon.

I'll also be committing more time to working on my book about my experience backpacking The Colorado Trail with my dogs, and I'll share pieces of that writing on Patreon once I get into a groove with it.

I really do want to help others. It's just important that I do so in a way that's sustainable and effective. I hope you'll consider joining me on Patreon. I typically make semi-regular posts that are available to all members, free and paid, and I'll be doing more of those as I move forward. I'm about to restructure my paid tier benefits as well, if you are interested in a paid tier (not necessary).
